Session styles

Lifestyle sessions take place outside in your garden or other favourite outdoor location like a beach or park etc. For winter and wet sessions, we can move the session indoors, into your home. Lifestyle sessions provide the opportunity to create the most natural looking contemporary portrait images that have become so popular in the last few years.

Bump to Baby sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. A fully equipped mobile studio is set up in your living room. The images are designed to capture this important stage of your pregnancy and the first few precious weeks with your newborn. Click here for more detailed information on this specialist portrait service.

Location studio sessions take place in your home (space permitting,) with a fully equipped mobile studio being set up in your living room, designed to produce ‘studio’ style images of the type often seen from a high street portrait studio, but in a more relaxed environment.

Custom portrait photography

Before booking a location based portrait session with me or purchasing a session as a gift for someone, we feel it’s important to provide you with more information on what to expect from the session and how the resulting images are most likely to be used. This will ensure that you are choosing the ‘right’ photographer for your family.

* ‘Cheap’ and ‘High Quality’ rarely go together. Portrait photography is no different to any other kind of service or product. You get what you pay for. If you’re looking for mass produced, uninspiring, generic images of your loved one’s in awkward and wooden poses, taken in a draughty doorway of a shopping centre or well known Baby shop, you have come to the wrong place! If however, you are looking to invest in high quality, creative, unique and natural images that capture the true personalities of your loved ones, then please read on.

* Professional portrait photographers provide a service (the session,) and then a product/s (framed prints, canvas/block mount prints etc,) which are charged for separately.

* Before booking your session you should ask yourself how and where you plan to use the resulting images. Are you looking for a large framed print for the living room wall, or perhaps a uniquely designed portrait album holding a selection of your favourite images? Perhaps you also wish to have access to the digital files so that you can share the images electronically? If you’re not sure, please ask us for our advice when you call to book your session. It’s all part of the service to ensure that you get exactly what you’re looking to invest in.

* Don’t leave it too late to book your session! We limit the number of portrait sessions I photograph, in order to maintain the very highest standards for our families. My portrait photography also ‘fights’ for my weekends along with my wedding photography commitments.

You also need to allow enough time after your session, for a viewing session, and then more time for your selected images to be processed and your display options ordered from our craftsmen/printers. Available dates in the run up to Xmas for example book up very early. You would also be surprised how many people ask us for a session the day before an important milestone birthday/anniversary, expecting a canvas print from the session to be ready the very next day!

* A location based family portrait session with me is not restricted by time or the number of photos I make with you. It lasts as long as you are all having fun and enjoying the experience, typically 60-90 minutes.

* Sessions can be booked six days a week, depending on my availability, either for the morning or afternoon. The whole half-day is set aside for your session, with initial image editing taking a further half/full day in order to produce a set of beautiful ‘proof images’ for you to view.

How to book your session

Simple, just call us on this number to discuss your requirements and check my availability. We find it easier to offer advice and guidance with an informal chat on the phone. Once your sure I’m the ‘right’ photographer for you, we’ll agree a session date and location and I’ll ask you to pay your booking fee by credit/debit card from this page of our website. Our session fee (payed by card,) is £57.20 and covers the cost of my time with you on the day, and my award winning photographic experience.

On the day of the session I travel to meet you at the location and photograph you and your loved ones. We suggest allowing the whole morning or afternoon for your session.

The viewing and ordering process

Within a few days of your session a small number of your images will be featured on our blog. I will then invite you to schedule a viewing session at our studio, where you’ll get to see all of the images from your session on our 80 inch display screen, together with samples of all the available display options. Don’t worry, we don’t believe in hard-selling and would prefer you to leave us happy and wanting to return in the future with the strength of my work being left to sell itself.

At the end of your viewing session I will confirm your order and take your payment. Your favourite images will then be taken through a secondary processing stage before your display products are made to order. Within 10 days your order will be ready for collection or sending to you.

Images designed for large format display

Families commission me to photograph them because they love my style and approach, but also because they wish to display their favourite images as large format printed products on the walls of their homes and offices. In light of this fact most families budget to spend between £200-£500 to allow for a large format display item (canvas, block mount print, or framed prints etc,) before also perhaps purchasing a portrait album, all of their session images as DVD slide-show, and then perhaps a few loose prints which make great gifts for family members.
