| If you are reading this page we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems trying to view one of our online slide shows. Many 1,000's of visitors to our website each year enjoy watching our proof slide shows. If you are one of the very small minority of viewers who (despite the information on this page,) are still unable to view the shows, we apologise sincerely. We appreciate that this can be frustrating and have listed below some of the common reasons why users can experience difficulty, in the hope that this will allow most people who are experiencing problems to eventually view the shows. We check all of our shows regularly on two different computers in our office and on a third computer in a different location on an alternative internet connection to ensure that they are available and working as usual. Our on-line digital proofing slide shows are provided as a free of charge service to all of our wedding and portrait clients to allow their family and friends to view the beautiful photos from their big day. This service is a complimentary part of any package we may have supplied and is not charged for. Occasionally some people experience problems viewing these slide shows due to many variables including (but not limited to,) internet browser configuration, system security settings, default security settings in their browsers, anti-virus and firewall software etc. While of course sympathetic to these problems, we ask viewers to appreciate that as the complexity of the digital age we are in continues to increase, there are thousands of software, hardware and complete computer system variables which can cause problems when trying to view these shows. Unfortunately we are photographers and not computer software or hardware experts ourselves, so are therefore unable to deal with requests from people, regarding the specific reason for them not being able to view the slide shows on their own computers. There may be several reasons why you are experiencing difficulties viewing theses shows. In order of 'most common' here are some of the reasons we have experienced for the slideshows not working: 1) Mac compatiibility: Unfortunately the on-line slide show software is not compatible with the Mac operating system so will only run on windows based pc's. 2) Slow speed internet connections: Users connected to the internet on slow dial-up connections sometimes are not able to 'buffer' enough of the show to actually allow it to begin to run. The screen will freeze and stay black/blank. 3) Work or office pc's: Users trying to view the show on a work or office computer are often prevented from downloading the automatic viewing software which is necessary for viewing these shows. Please ask you IT support staff if this is happening to you. Often you will see a message box stating that there is a problem or a blank screen with small red cross. If this happens please try viewing the shows at home or at a different location. 4) Hotel/internet cafe pc's: Bride and groom's trying to watch the shows on internet cafe/hotel pc's while on honeymoon often experience the same problems as above in #3 or #2. 5) Home PC security settings: Some users experience difficulty with installing the 'Presenter' plug-in software. Once again if this applies to you there is usually a message box which states that there is a problem or the small white box with red square in it is visible. When you click on the first link to one of our slideshows, you should have been promted to download the 'Presenter' software automatically. If you weren't this is because your pc's user settings, firewall or anti-virus software have blocked the software's attempt to download the necessary programme. 6) You must be logged onto your computer as the 'Administrator' to install the Presenter plug-in. 7) If you are using windows Vista or windows 7 together with Internet Explorer version 8, you must disable the 'User Account Control' setting while installing the Presenter plug-in. 8) Browser settings: Check that you have 'allow Active X controls to run' set in your internet browser properties. (Ensure that you close all browser windows and delete your history/cookies before re-opening your internet browser after making any changes to these settings.) 9) Some anti-virus and firewall software will disable the installing of plug-ins from the internet, despite any changes you have made to your system settings above. Try temporarilly diasbling your anti-virus and/or firewall software for the installation process. (Remember to turn these back on after the process is completed!) 10) No need to register: There is no need to register with the photodex website for an account. If you are asked to register you are in the wrong place. Please close your browser, delete your cookies and browsing history and then try the link again from the show you are trying to watch from the link on our website. 11) Passwords: To view any client slide shows from our website you will need a password to enter each client file. For weddings the password is the family name of the groom. For portrait clients the password is the family name of the main subject/s. Please remember that all of our passswords are case sensitive and are always lower case letters only. For personal security reasons we are unable to provide the password to telephone and email enquirers. For Nigel and Claire Smith, their password will be: smith 12) Manually downloading the plug-in software: If you are still having problems watching our slide shows, our last suggestion is to try downloading and installing the plug-in software manually. Click here to visit the page where the photodex presenter program can be downloaded manually and follow the simple on screen instructions. (Before installing any new program it is vital that you disable any antivirus software that is running on your machine.) Then after clearing out your browser cookies and history, re-boot your computer and attempt to view the shows again from the links on our site. 10) Further information on the Photdex viewer plug-in: Click here for a complete overview of the photodex presenter plug-in software. If you are a close family member or friend and have tried to view the slideshows on a different computer, but are still experiencing problems, please contact the clients directly and ask to see their proof images in person. If you are unable to view the clients own proof images, but would still like to order prints, please contact us directly to arrange a time to come and view them at our studio. If none of the above suggestions help, please try to view the slideshows on a different pc on a differnet internet connection or contact the software manufacturer directly from this page. While we appreciate the frustration caused for those few people each year, who because of their unique system configuration, are unable to view the slide shows on our site, we have chosen our current on-line proofing system as it is the only option currently open to us which allows us to show ALL of the beautiful images from the day/session. Most other photographers still just display a small number of heavilly edited proofs, leaving you wondering what other images were taken out before you got the chance to see them. For us, being able to show all of the photos from your day is more important than having a small number of people each year who are unable to view the shows at all, as regrettable as this is.
