Portrait photography ‘Frequently Asked Questions’

How do we book a location-based family portrait session with you?

Simple, just call us. Click here for our contact details. You can pay your session fee by card, electronic transfer, cheque or cash.

How much does the session cost?

We charge just £55 for a location-based family portrait session which includes a complimentary 7 x 5 inch unframed print. This charge is to cover my time with you on the day, and my award-winning photographic skills and experience.

When do we pay you for the session?

At the time you confirm your session with us. Call us today to book your session and we’ll give you payment options and details. We can accept card payments, cheques, electronic transfers or cash.

When do we pay you for our portrait products?

At the time you order them, usually at your viewing session a few days after your photographic session.

How will we get to see the images from our session?

Usually within 24-48 hours of your session, a small number of ‘sneaky peak’ images will be featured on our blog. We will then contact you and invite you to schedule your viewing session at our studio, where you’ll get to see all of the edited images from your session on our 80 inch screen. After your viewing session and placing an initial order, we can provide an on-line gallery so that you can share the images from your session with other family members who may also wish to order products from your session.

What are your prices for portrait display products?

Do you have a minimum spend?

No. In the unlikely situation that you don’t love the images from your session, there is no obligation to purchase anything. However, we can only sell individual unframed prints once you have ordered a large format display product and/or a money-saving print pack. Most families will usually end up spending between £200-£600, depending upon their own specific requirements and budget.

Can we purchase loose prints to put into our own frames?

Yes of course but as mentioned above, individual prints are only available after you have purchased a large format display option and/or a money-saving print pack.

What should we wear?

You should be comfortable and happy with the clothes you decide to wear for the session. Be certain that what you choose suits and flatters you. Avoid conflicting patterns like stripes and checks, and strong/dominant logos. A coordinated look with complementary colours can help to create stronger looking group shots, but for babies and small children, some fun outfits with bright and vibrant colours should also be included too. If you’re not sure what to wear, ask us for help and advice when you call to book your session.

We always suggest that female clients wear makeup for the session, to give a more ‘finished’ look to the final images, and we suggest not having your hair cut the day before, or day of your session. It’s always best to have it cut about a week before.

If you would like a professional make-up artist and hair stylist to pamper you before your session, please mention this to us when you call, as this is something that can be arranged for an extra charge.

What happens if we’ve booked an outdoor session and it rains?

We can usually adapt the session to your indoor environment, or if you’re happy to have fun splashing in puddles, I’m always happy to get wet with you! Actually, some of our favourite images of children have been photographed in the rain. If necessary we can always re-schedule your session to another day.

What happens if we have to cancel our session?

Please call us with as much notice as possible. Usually it’s not a problem to simply re-schedule your session for another day. Please note however that all session fees and gift certificates are non-refundable.

Can we purchase the images from our session as files on a CD?

Yes or course. We have two options:

Option 1 is to purchase a CD of all your session images as ‘web-optimised’ files, perfect for emailing and sharing on social networking websites.

Option 2 is to purchase a CD containing all of the original images from your session as high resolution files on a CD with a printing license. Both CD’s come in a luxury case and are treated like any other product we supply, so are charged for separately. Click here to see all of our portrait prices.

Please note that in supplying you with images on a CD, we still retain full copyright to the work supplied. This means that the CD is supplied for personal use only by our clients.

As the files on the CD’s are supplied without our studio logo on them, we politely request that when sharing files digitally over the Internet that clients credit Nic as their photographer.

Will you photograph our family party, anniversary, re-union, get-together?

Yes of course, but for this kind of an event we will agree a set package with you in advance. Just call us to discuss your requirements and to get an idea of cost. Please note that packages will start from £195.
