Barnsley House wedding photos from Cotswold & Gloucestershire wedding photographer, Nic Cleave Photography

It was my pleasure to capture the story of Lee and Karina’s wedding last Friday at a gorgeous boutique Cotswold Hotel, Barnsley House in Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds.

The story of the day began with Karina’s preparations. Joined by family and friends popping in throughout, the morning was relaxed as Karina got ready with her daughter Celyn and flower girl Jessica.

An outdoor ceremony was conducted in the beautiful gardens at Barnsley House, where Lee and Karina were married in front of their family and friends in the fresh air. Outdoor ceremonies are still very rare in the UK, probably due to the unpredictable weather, so it’s always nice to capture a ceremony outside.

After the ceremony guests made their way back to the patio area outside the house for reception drinks and canapes. We then took a few family and group photos on the beautiful lawns before Lee and Karina then headed off with me for a 20 minute tour of the beautiful gardens and grounds at Barnsley House.

The gardens of this beautiful Cotswold Hotel were designed by Rosemary Verey who also designed the gardens at High-grove House, the home of Prince Charles and Camila. The variety of backdrops in such a relatively small area made for some fantastic photo opportunities. Our short garden tour ended at the marquee for Lee and Karina to have a pre-wedding breakfast look, before their guests were seated.

A wonderful wedding breakfast in the marquee at Barnsley House was followed by speeches and cake cutting, before guests returned to the gardens for late evening strolls in the warm summer weather.

If you were at this wedding or know Lee and Karina, please leave them a personal message below. All of the wonderful images from this special day will be available to view from this page, after Lee and Karina have been into the studio to see them first in their ‘preview session.’

The Vale Hotel and Spa Cardiff wedding venue recommends Nic Cleave Photography

I was delighted to be asked a few months ago by the Marketing Manager of the Vale Resort and Spa in Hensol near Cardiff, if I would be happy to supply them with images from a recent wedding I photographed at the Vale Resort Hotel last year, for a new marketing campaign. They had seen the images from this wedding featured on our blog last year.

The image above is now being used as a full-page advertisement in the current edition of Your South Wales Wedding Magazine. This of course is in addition to our most recent four page ‘Real Wedding’ feature and our own regular advertisement in the magazine.

The image used for this advertisement is from the wedding of Helen and James in September last year, who got married at the Vale Hotel and Spa Resort on a glorious September day. Click here if you’d like to see more images from this fantastic day.

If you’re planning your own wedding at the Vale Resort and want unique, creative, unobtrusive and award-winning wedding photography, please contact us soon to check if your date is still available or complete this simple date check form.

Barry & Llantwit Major ‘Real Wedding’ published from Cardiff wedding photographer, Nic Cleave Photography

Our latest ‘Real Wedding’ was published this week in ‘Your South Wales Wedding Magazine, featuring Richard and Eleanor’s big day from August last year.

I was contacted a few months ago by the Editor of the magazine and asked if they could feature this wedding from Barry and Llantwit Major last summer. Always delighted for my couples to see their big day highlighted in this way, in the only national ’commercial’ wedding magazine available in Wales, I of course said yes.

Richard and Eleanor were also delighted to be asked and featured, and I’m sure this four page celebration of their special day will make a fantastic 1st anniversary memento (with the 1st anniversary gift of course being ‘paper.’)

Above are a few of the images from their blog feature last August. If you’d like to view the actual ‘Real Wedding’, please click here to download a pdf file. If you’d like to view all of the other ‘Real Weddings’ I’ve had published featuring couples from all over Wales and the UK, please visit this page.

If you know Richard and Eleanor, please leave them a personal message about their new-found celebrity status below.

Hi guys,

Hope you have received your copy of the magazine. Mine only arrived today, hence the delay in getting this up on the site.

Hope you love the feature. A wondeful memento as you approach your first anniversary.

Kind regards,

Nic

PS: Did Boots ever use the image you requested earlier this year?

The Towers Hotel recent wedding photos from Swansea wedding photographer, Nic Cleave Photography, South Wales, UK

It was my pleasure to capture the story of Leigh and Caroline’s wedding last Saturday in Swansea, South Wales, UK.

The story of the day began in Felindre on the outskirts of Swansea, with Caroline’s preparations at her parent’s home. Caroline got ready with her two bridesmaids, parents and family.

I then made a short trip from the house into the nearby village to reach Nebo Chapel, perched up on a hill. The rain was still very heavy with little signs of the much forecast dryer weather arriving. (A factor which remained for the whole day.)

After the bridesmaids had arrived with Caroline’s Mum, it wasn’t long before Caroline arrived with her Dad. Umbrellas and brisk walking were the order of the day as everyone headed for the chapel. I always enjoy photographing weddings in traditional Welsh chapels, as the light is usually better than in darker churches, and the upper tier always provides for some great ‘aerial’ perspective shots of the service.

After a lovely service the rain was still coming down but this didn’t put guests off from waiting outside to congratulate Caroline and Leigh. The decision was made to keep to our plan, so I headed off in the direction of the Neath Abbey ruins, followed by Leigh and Caroline in their beautiful wedding car.

On arrival at Neath Abbey…yes you guessed it, the rain was still falling, although more lightly than earlier, and a brave Caroline and Leigh decided that it wasn’t going to put them off from taking a  tour of the abbey ruins and amazing grounds.

One of my favourite places to photograph a couple on their own, either on their wedding day, or as a location-based pre-wedding shoot, Neath Abbey ruins provides countless opportunities for amazing images, with a huge number of fantastic backgrounds.

We were even allowed to enter the ‘Crypt’, which is usually off-limits to members of the public. It provided respite from the rain, but also the amazing dark and moody images that I love from this room.

We spent no more than 25 minutes in total at the abbey, and although it was raining throughout and incredibly wet underfoot, Caroline and Leigh were completely relaxed and very obviously enjoying themselves, as is visible from the many images of them genuinely laughing together!

This set of images is a great example of what can be achieved on a wet wedding day, if the bride and groom decide not to let the rain ‘ruin’ their special day, and have chosen an experienced and professional photographer to get the job done creatively in the wet.

It was only a short 10 minute drive from the Neath Abbey ruins to the nearby Towers Hotel and Spa, in Jersey Marine overlooking the Swansea coast for the reception.

On arrival at the Towers Hotel, we were greeted by guests outside (yes in the light rain,) so after checking with Caroline and Leigh, invited everyone else outside for 15 minutes of group and family shots in the wet! Again something that many couples would have substituted for the easier option of photographing people inside, but I’m sure a decision that Leigh and Caroline will look back on positively when they see the resulting images.

With the group shots photographed smoothly and efficiently, and with guests saying they were ‘having fun’ and ‘enjoying themselves,’ (a big thank you to everyone who made these outside photos possible for Leigh and Caroline in quite miserable conditions,) we headed inside to the dry.

Caroline and Leigh were announced in for their wedding breakfast, which was followed by cake-cutting and speeches.

If you know this lovely couple, please leave them a personal message below, especially if you would like to be notified when all of the images from their special day will be available to view from this page, on their return from honeymoon. Dear Caroline and Leigh,

I wanted to be the first here to say congratulations once again to you both.

I also wanted to thank you for making the most of your day with me outside. I hope you can see from the small set of ‘sneaky peak’ images above, that your decision to stay outside for photos ceratinly paid off!

Until then, have a great holiday and safe travelling. Thank you once again for choosing me as your photographer.

Oxwich Bay Hotel recent wedding photos from Gower wedding photographer, Nic Cleave Photography, Swansea South Wales

It was my pleasure to capture the story of Kristopher and Jacqueline’s wedding last Saturday at the beautiful Gower wedding venue, the Oxwich Bay Hotel in Oxwich, Gower, Swansea, South Wales.

The story of the day began with some informal coverage of Jacqueline’s preparations  at Oxwich Bay Hotel, before I met Kristopher and his groomsmen in the wedding garden for a few pre-ceremony shots of the guys.

A civil ceremony was held in the hotel’s main suite before all guests made the short trip up to the marquee for welcome drinks. The promised heavy showers forecast throughout the day never materialised, however we did have to contend with a strong wind. Gladly accepted in return for spells of blue sky and sunshine throughout the afternoon.

After 20 minutes of carefully selected group and family shots in the wedding garden in front of the gorgeous marquee with panoramic views over Oxwich Bay and the stunning Gower coastline, Kris and Jacqueline took a 20 minute walk along the ‘windy’ beach in order to reach the sand dunes.

We created some fantastic natural looking reportage images during the walk along the beach, which were added to with a series of more posed shots of Kris and Jacqueline together in the dunes. The walk back to the marquee was littered with small groups of people on the beach congratulating the happy couple, who must have felt like ‘celebrities’ as they headed back for some relief from the strong wind.

Before Kris and Jacqueline were announced in for their wedding breakfast, they were treated to a special ‘Wedding Day Trick’ by their magician, who had been entertaining guests during the afternoon with his ‘amazing’ tricks and slight-of-hand.

Cake cutting and speeches followed a lovely meal (thank you for feeding me guys,) before evening guests started to arrive.

If you know this lovely couple, please leave them a personal message below. If you would like to be notified by email when all of the amazing images from this day are available to view, please leave us a message below and we’ll email you. If you’re a facebook user please click the ‘like’ button below and share these images with your friends.

All of the images from this great day will be available to view from this page, after Kris and Jacqueline have been into the studio to see them first in their ‘champagne preview session.’
