If you’re planning a winter wedding and the photography is important to you, you need to hire a ‘specialist’ winter wedding photographer. Most couples getting married at this time of the year are unaware of this, but here’s why it’s vital.

Photographing a winter wedding to a professional and award winning standard, requires a special skill-set. It also requires a knowledge of low-lighting techniques, and a substantial investment in specialist cameras and lenses. It also requires a special way of working to ensure that amazing and creative images are still created in often dark, low light situations, with poor weather conditions making the job even harder. The comfort of you and your guests also plays an important role as it’s often wet and cold.

Many wedding photographers hang up their cameras when the clocks go forward in October, and don’t dust them off again until spring time. However I’m often as busy in Dec/Jan as I am in Jul/Aug, with most winter seasons being fully-booked 12-18 months in advance.

If you’re planning a winter wedding make sure your photographer is able to explain how he/she works in the above conditions. Make sure they can show you complete client albums of previous winter weddings they have photographed, and ask them what ‘plan B’ and ‘plan C’ would be if the weather decided to do it’s worst on the day!

We have a range of winter wedding albums here in our studio that we can show you when you come to visit us. In the meantime you may find the links below useful in showcasing my work from this beautiful time of the year:
